That's right! You can make Pralines in your microwave. Nothing says "SOUTH" like a good old fashion Praline.
3/4 cup Buttermilk
2 Cups Sugar
2 Cups Pecan Halves
2 Tbsp Butter
1/8 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Vanilla
1 tsp Baking Soda
Combine all ingredients EXCEPT Baking Soda and Vanilla in a large microwavable bowl. (5 qt)
Cook for 9 1/2 minutes on Hi, stirring every 3 minutes.
Add Vanilla and Baking Soda.
Stir it up. Mixture will foam up, that's normal.
Cook for 1 minute on Hi.
Beat mixture BY HAND until tacky and starts to loose its shine.
Drop by spoonful on wax paper.
I have always used the bowl you see in the picture. However, for some odd reason my mixture boiled over just a little....the reason you see the paper towels. It is a 4.5 qt bowl.
As I was saying, NEVER stand over your cook top again and you have beautiful, delicious Pralines in approximately 30 minutes!
Cooking times could vary depending on your microwave.
Beating times could vary depending on your hand beating experience. (thank you to my husband AGAIN!)
